 It’s summer time, y’all, and that means tons of fairs and festivals in downtown Chicago. Today was special in particular, because my best friend Vienna came in town to visit! We made our way down to the Gold Coast Art Festival in Grant Park, and hit some of the major tourist spots (The Bean, and Buckingham Fountain) on the way back. To fit my relaxing day, I decided to rock some super comfy clothes with a boho vibe. Not going to lie, after wearing these loose fitting jeans all day, I don’t know if I’ll ever go back to my super tight skinnies.

As for my hair, they don’t call it the windy city for nothing. Keep your hair out of your face and still looking sleek with a nice french braid. Depending on your style, you can always pull apart the braid a bit to give a more messy/carefree look, or let your wisps go wild as I did instead of pinning them back. Get a cute layered look with a backless shirt accompanied by a bralette (they’re MUCH comfier than a bra anyway), and finish off the look with cute shoes, accessories, and a great bag. Today, we have hirachi inspired heels with a not-too-high rise for all day comfort, and an over-sized, flap bag to fit all of my “necessities” (Yes – I know that I don’t need three different shades of lipstick at all times, but better safe than sorry!). Pretty doesn’t have to hurt if you do it right. Hope you all had a happy Sunday, and have a great week!

Hello and a big happy first official day of summer to all! Whether you’re celebrating with a fun-filled day at the beach, or a relaxing day at the spa (or on your couch), I hope you looked good doing it. What better way to spruce up your summer wardrobe than with some warm tropical patterns? Plain Jane is so yesterday, and if you haven’t noticed, pretty patterns are the new black. Whip out your new shades and some sunscreen because this look is hot! Who doesn’t like an outfit that can be accompanied by some big glamorous sunglasses and a sun hat? I know I sure do.

The shades of green incorporated into most palm patterns look good with almost all skin tones, however, it is particularly flattering on a darker/olive complexion which gives you an incentive to TAN! These pieces look fab with gold accessories (pretend you’re going on a yacht in the Mediterranean) and can be easily dressed up with some neutral pumps or wedges and dressed down with a cute pair of flip flops or flats. Whatever your preference, these palm and floral patterns will have you in the true spirit of summer in no time at all. So what are you waiting for? Let’s get tropi-cool!

What time is it? Festival time!

It’s festival season all over the country, and Chicago is a hot spot for killer music. If you don’t have tickets to Lollapalooza, I truly feel bad for you, and if you do… SEE YOU THERE! Anyway, I got a huge surprise today – Two weekend passes to Spring Awakening featuring Kaskade, Tiesto, Diplo, Pretty Lights, Dillon Francis, and so many more! Needless to say I was ecstatic when I got the news, but also almost had a heart attack – the festival starts tomorrow… and I have NOTHING to wear! With almost no time to spare I thought ‘hey, why not kill two birds with one stone?’ Let’s talk about our fav festival fads and help me to get an idea of what looks I’m going for this weekend! Here we go!

 

No matter your style, there is a festival look for you. There’s nothing better than getting to wear literally whatever you want and having it be socially acceptable for 3 days in a row! Bring out the bling, and flaunt your fringe because there’s nothing like a great outfit and a great concert.

Yes that’s right, skorts! Not to fear, these dainty little bottoms are nothing like what you were forced to wear in private school.                                           No more “I see London, I see France!…” These guys are a party in the front and business in the back. Ditch the mini skirt and join the comfort club because these bad boys are basically just shorts in disguise. Make it sassy with a pair of pumps and a fitted top, or dress it down with a pair of converses and a graphic tee. Either way, I guarantee you’ll look fab.
